We are a non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing waste, one fix at a time. Through our monthly Repair Cafés, we bring communities together to repair items that might otherwise end up as waste. Our mission is to unite communities while promoting a circular economy, where resources are reused and repaired rather than discarded.
We will soon be launching Derry/Londonderry’s first tool and equipment library, the ‘Library of Things Foyle’. This new venture will aim to promote a sharing economy in the city by encouraging people to borrow items rather than buying new. We also have more exciting projects in the pipeline, so stay tuned for more updates!
May 2022
It all began in May of 2022. With a modest team of volunteers and a passion for fixing, we held our first-ever Repair Café on May 28th, 2022, under the name Repair Café Foyle. The event was a resounding success, sparking a series of monthly repair events across different venues throughout the city, where we fixed items for free.
May 2023
Our commitment and hard work led to our first “Big Fix” event at the University of Ulster Magee’s Great Hall on May 27th, 2023. With over 20 volunteers, this event marked a significant milestone for us, demonstrating the incredible progress we had made in our first year.
May 2023 also seen us rebrand as Repair and Share Foyle and register as a Community Interest Company (CIC). This change allowed us to access various grants and funding opportunities, further supporting our mission.
May 2024
For our 2nd birthday, we received the best present – keys to our first premise! It’s a lovely big warehouse that will serve as a hub for innovation in reuse, repair, and waste reduction in our city. But don’t worry, our repair café events will still be popping up throughout the city!
August 2024
In August, as we prepared to launch both our Library of Things and our new website, we refreshed our branding to better reflect our mission and vision. Click below to learn more about our new look!
